Information

Playa del Carmen is, without doubt, the trendiest destination in the Mayan Riviera and as if that was not enough, it also has something to offer to all the different tastes. Founded in 1937, this young city is the current fastest-growing community in Latin America, its population goes around 150,000 with a mix of Mexican, European, Canadian and Americans that now call themselves “playenses” and enjoy this place full of restaurants, night clubs, beach clubs, hotels, shops and more… everything walking distance. Weather is pretty similar to Cancun being hot and humid most time of the year and a bit cold starting November. Originally a small fishing town, Playa del Carmen started welcoming tourists with the passenger ferry service to Cozumel, a 1 hour away beautiful island, better known as the perfect place to dive. Nowadays, it is a stop for several cruise ships, home of many environmental parks owned by the chain Xperiencias Xcaret and the destination of PGA Golf Tournaments. Main attraction and the reason why it’s so recognized is the Fifth Avenue, a long pedestrian walkway parallel to the beach. It also features a famous residential area called Playacar, where most of the All-Inclusive hotels and golf courses are located. Its quick growth and development has set Playa apart from being an authentic Mexican town, however it means you’ll find that 90% of the people speaks good english and US Dollars are well accepted almost everywhere. Cancun Airport is the place where you’ll land when visiting Playa and as we mentioned before, car is not needed to move around town, so booking Playa del Carmen transfers with us is a great idea to have a smooth 45 min ride to your destination from the Airport. Also, there is wide variety of things to do and places to visit in Playa, surely something for every taste, so you can take advice from our agents with our free-of-charge concierge service to get recommendations on what activities to book, which restaurants to try, etc and make the most of your time in there. To start with, here are some traveler’s top picks that you might want to check out and include on your itinerary:
